October Editorial

This issue we cover two Jeep events I was able to attend.
Mopar Sunday was for all things Mopar and was a great day out. This was my first time at the event and it was good to see a strong Jeep presence. The event is not four-wheel-driving orientated, but it was great to watch the drags and walk around admiring the vehicles on display. The time and effort that has gone into modifying and restoring these vehicles by their owners is amazing.

The second event I was able to attend was the Jeep Appreciation Day. There was plenty of room for the static display and a convenient off-road track on site.

I was asked to judge the different categories and chose the CJ6 featured on the cover of this issue as the best overall Jeep.

I listened to the comments from others walking away when winners were announced, “I wouldn’t have picked that one”, “Why did that one win?” were some of the comments. I’ve heard all this at many Jeep events over the years. We all like something different, but shouldn’t get too serious about it, they’re all Jeeps.

Older Jeeps can be hard to restore especially if you are trying to keep it close to original. Clive Plater’s CJ6 was a unique Jeep used by the Air Force and all Clive had to go on for its restoration was a couple of old photographs. Even military Jeeps have lots of information available for restoration.

It has been restored well, it was presented nicely and it has lots of Jeep history.

Enjoy this month’s issue.
